I promise one day you’ll be born into this world. I don’t know when. But it’s inevitable.
I’m your creation. My whole world surrounds itself around you even when you have yet to be born. You are my hope. My world. My future. So I feel that I should give something back to you.
My daughter. My niña. My life. You are going to be beautiful. From the inside, you’ll be like a sunflower sprouting its seeds to everyone who grazes by. From the outside, you’ll be the girl who influences with her extravagant beauty.
You’re gonna be a smiler honey. I can just feel it. I can just see it. Whenever I imagine you I see you smiling. As a toddler sitting on my lap. As a ten-year-old happy to get her Mc Donalds meal. Or as an adult who loves her mother beyond the horizon.
Whatever happens Aliyah, I will always be with you. I will take care of you. And never let any glass shard slice you like the way they have sliced me. Your mother has been through a lot, Liyah. But, you should be proud of her. That she made it. And now she has you to live for.
Without any expectations, without any judgment, Aliyah you will be my daughter. I won’t yell at you if you bring home a ‘D’ in math or a ‘B’ in English. I’ll help you. I’ll be your support. And I will be the pillar you stand next to proudly when you bring home that ‘A’ next time.
I’ll let you pursue your dreams. No restrictions (as long as they’re not out of this world crazy honey). I was always told what to dream about. I was surrounded by influence and control. But, no. I refuse to let you feel that.
Baby, you can do anything you put your mind too. Anything.
And when you do, I’ll be the proudest mom ever.
And when you don’t. I’ll be the proudest mom ever.
The absolute luckiest. (Wallahi)
Just do me a favor, Liyah. Smile for me. Without any worry. Without any doubt. There is actually a good in this world. Don’t you dare think the other way, honey. You’re mine and that’s all I need to prove it.
Because one day, you’ll fly without me. And even if you think you’re at the end of your world,
I’ll be watching you from the end of mine.
I’ll be with you,
from the other side of the moon.
